Writing is a very insular pursuit. Sitting at the computer with thoughts tumbling onto the page, working to make characters come alive and unraveling a compelling and believable story is an individual activity. No one else can pull those ideas from my gray matter. And being wrapped up in that world can be lonely. Enter my support system. Yes, I have a wonderful family, immediate and extended, but they love my writing because they love me and I appreciate them for that. I'm talking about those cheerleaders who are writers themselves-people who can relate to the difficulties of spending months pouring over a manuscript, only to fall in love again as your characters do or to have your villain wake you in the night with a vivid description of his next crime. Nope. No one better understands the inner workings of a writer's mind like another author.
